MLB Betting Guide: 3 Best Bets for Tuesday, April 16

Our MLB selections got back to their winning ways last night with a solid 2-1 performance. Check out our 3 best bets for Tuesday, April 16 below!

Happy Tuesday, fellow sports investors! We got the week started off on the right foot with a 2-1 performance on Monday. The Royals and Rangers both came through for us in the first 5 innings.

Unfortunately, the Brewers blew an early lead to keep us from sweeping the board. All in all, though, it was a good night. Here's what's on tap for Tuesday evening! Best of luck, folks!

Rays F5 -135 (DraftKings)

This play makes sense from a wide variety of perspectives. The line value alone is worth noting, as lots of other sportsbooks have this priced in the -150 range. DraftKings is being awfully generous and we'll take them up on their offer.

When betting a First 5 wager, you almost always need to have a decent eddge in the starting pitcher department. The Rays have that tonight with Aaron Civale on the hill at home. The 28-year-old has 6 different pitches that can baffle opposing hitters.

Jose Soriano can throw some serious heat, but he's still getting used to being a starter. Tampa Bay touched him up on April 10th for 4 runs in only 4 innings of work. Look for guys like Yandy Diaz and Randy Arozarena to provide some nice offensive punch for us early on in this one!

Padres F5 -130 (BetRivers)

I'm a big fan of Dylan Cease and I think he'll do big things for San Diego this season. Cease has to be thrilled to be away from the White Sox, and he's now on a team that can give him some run support. The 28-year-old has struck out 20 hitters in only 16.2 innings of work so far in 2024.

San Diego's bats have really woke up over the last week or so. The Pads have scored 33 runs over their last 5 games and I don't see them cooling off against Wade Miley. The crafty veteran lefty knows how to pitch, but Tatis, Machado, and Co. should be able to get a couple of runs off of him.

We faded the Pads last night and paid for it. I'm not making the same mistake again tonight. Give me San Diego in the first 5 innings!

Royals F5 -0.5 (-118) (BetMGM)

This one cashed for us last night, and we're going to keep fading the ChiSox until further notice. The South Siders are only averaging 2.1 runs per game and they're hitting an abysmal .194 so far this season. The White Sox will once again be starting a pitcher that's making his Major League debut (Jonathan Cannon).

Cannon is a big 6'6" righty from Georgia but we expect him to be overwhelmed in his first start. Facing guys like Bobby Witt Jr. won't be an easy task for the young fella. Cannon will also have to be careful with Vinnie Pasquantino, who homered last night for Kansas City.

The Royals will send Brady Singer to the hill and he's impressed the heck out of me so far this season. After a rocky 2023, Singer has a 0.98 ERA through 3 starts in 2024. He has a nasty slider to go along with a 92 MPH sinker. Let's play KC -0.5 in the first 5!
