AL West with Joe Wiz: surging Seattle Mariners head to Oakland looking to reel in Athletics

Don't look now (ok, you can look), but here come the Seattle Mariners entering the American League Wild Card fray.

And if they stay hot, maybe Seattle can even catch the Astros on top of the AL West.

Today, Seattle heads to Oakland to face the slumping Athletics, who are now just two games ahead of the Mariners in the standings.

This is an interesting matchup, as Chris Flexen faces Cole Irvin on the bump. Seattle has been good against Oakland this year (7-4, and 4-1 after the break), and is 10-4 over its last 14 games. However, I think I will lean towards the favorites today.
