Maybe the bigger question is, will the New York Yankees be in that race?

Talk about a pivotal post All-Star break series: first place Boston heads to New York to take on the Yankees in a four-game set starting tonight.

If you have the Yankees in any futures bets, do not look at the AL East standings right now. The Reds Sox are eight games up on New York (and Toronto), with the defending AL Pennant winner Tampa Bay just 1.5 back of the Red Sox. This series could prove to be massive: imagine if the Sox sweep?

New York still does not have a pitcher listed to take the hill tonight against Eduardo Rodriguez, who boasts a 5.70 ERA on the road this season. I have to think the over total will be in play.
