Eckel's Friday baseball picks: Twins vs Royals, White Sox vs Cubs, Rangers vs Mariners, plus long balls from Soler, Merrifield, Bryant
Tonight's first game starts at 8:05 pm EDT.
After coming close all week, Thursday was a perfect day for the picks.
The White Sox/Tigers game went over (all by the White Sox); the Giants beat the Angels and Oakland beat Arizona.
Let’s take those winnings and do it again Friday with three home underdogs.
Minnesota Twins at Kansas City Royals, 8:05 p.m.
Pitchers: Jake Odorizzi vs. Danny Duffy
Odds: Twins -135; Royals +125
Chicago White Sox at Chicago Cubs, 8:15 p.m.
Pitchers: Dallas Kuechel vs. Jon Lester
Odds: White Sox -120; Cubs Even
Texas Rangers at Seattle Mariners, 9:10
Pitchers: Kolby Allard vs. Nick Margevicius
Odds: Rangers -125; Mariners +105
Single: This will be the third straight weekend the Twins and Royals have played each other. KC swept at home; and Minnesota took three of four at home. Well, they’re back in KC and Duffy has been better than Odorizzi this year. Take the Royals.
Double: The best game of the night is the battle of Chicago. Both teams are playing well but we like Lester. He’s 2-0 with a 2.74 ERA this year and is 11-6, including two wins last season against the ChiSox. Take the Cubs.
Triple: Margevicius has pitched well enough this season to have a few wins. Instead he’s 0-1. He’ll get his first win Friday against the slumping Rangers. Take the Mariners.
Home Run: I like two Royals, Jorge Soler and Whit Merrifield, to go deep against the Twins. We’ll add Kris Bryant, of the Cubs, as well.
