MLB Best Bets from Eckel: HR picks, a parlay, Tigers vs White Sox, D-Backs vs A's, and Angels vs Giants
Jake Arrieta and the Phillies — why would I bet Arrieta? — cost us a perfect Wednesday.
San Diego remained hot with a walk-off win over Texas and the underdog Giants and a revitalized Johnny Cueto handled the Angels. Max Muncy also homered. The Braves and Marcel Ozuna were postponed.
Now it’s onto Thursday with an afternoon delight and a Bay Area parlay.
Detroit Tigers at Chicago White Sox, 2:10 p.m.
Pitchers: Spencer Turnbull vs. Lucas Giolito
Over/Under: 8 1/2 runs
Arizona Diamondbacks at Oakland A's, 9:40 p.m.
Pitchers: Alex Young vs. Sean Manaea
Odds: Diamondbacks +125; As - 155
Los Angeles Angels at San Francisco Giants, 9:45 p.m.
Pitchers: Jose Suarez vs. Kevin Gausman
Odds: Angels -125; Giants +115
The Cycle
Single: I’m looking for the White Sox to continue to play long ball Thursday afternoon and for the slumping Tigers to get into the act as well. I like the ChiSox to win, but I like the over 8 1/2 even better.
Double: Suarez makes his season debut for the Angels after a rough rookie year where he had an ERA close to 8. The Giants are playing good baseball and Gausman has been solid in every start this season. Take the Giants.
Triple: Let’s try a Bay Area parlay with the Giants and Gausman hooked up with Oakland and Manaea against Arizona.
Home Run: Take Chicago’s Edwin Encarnacion and Cincinnati’s Joey Votto to both take one out Thursday.
