BoopProps Monday MLB - Phillies vs. Braves, Aaron Nola, Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton, Joe Girardi, Gabe Kapler, Tommy Hunter

Monday, Aug. 10

When last we saw Aaron Nola, he was busy mowing down Aaron Judge, Giancarlo Stanton and the rest of the New York Yankees with 12 strikeouts in six innings before Phillies’ manager Gabe Kapler lifted him in a 1-1, seven-inning game of last Wednesday’s doubleheader.

Wait! What? . . . Kapler doesn’t live here anymore? Well, for one shaky moment last week, Joe Girardi was doing his best Kapler imitation.

Tommy Hunter imploded (four hits and a HBP) and the Phillies’ record in Nola’s last nine starts dipped to a Hard-To-Believe-Harry 0-9.

That ends today.

Nola has struck out 28 batters in 17 innings over last three starts (including his 2019 finale). And wanna guess which team’s offense just happen to leads the majors in strikeouts with 176 in 10 games. Hey, Atlanta!!!

As usual, we shopped around and found an Over 4.5 Ks line (-120) for Nola at William Hill. He should have that by the third inning, so that will easily cover our bet on the Over 7.5 offered by FanDuel.

And all that should lead to Nola recorded his first victory since Aug. 20.
