Eckel's Saturday Baseball Picks: Braves vs Phillies, Angels vs Rangers, Rockies vs Mariners, with Acuna and Rendon to go deep
Friday night was tough.
The Braves got rained out in Philly and that was the best news of the night.
The Yankees lost 1-0 to Tampa Bay; and the Astros lost 3-2 in 13 innings to Oakland.
Oh well, what do you do after an 0-for-2 night, you get back in the bettor’s box.
Here are some Saturday selections.
Atlanta Braves at Philadelphia Phillies, 6:05 p.m.
Pitchers: Kyle Wright vs. Jake Arrieta
Odds: Braves -110; Phillies -110
Los Angeles Angels at Texas Rangers, 7:05 p.m.
Pitchers: Patrick Sandoval vs. Kolby Allard
Odds: Angels -135; Rangers +125
Colorado Rockies at Seattle Mariners, 9:10 p.m.
Pitchers: Ryan Castellani vs. Nick Margevicius
Odds: Rockies +105; Mariners -115
The Cycle
Single: Let’s go back to the Braves and top prospect Kyle Wright against the Phillies, who moved Arrieta ahead of Vince Velasquez in the rotation.
Double: The Angels/Rangers game features a match-up of former Orange County high school rivals in Sandoval and Allard. Let’s go with Sandoval and the Angels on the road.
Triple: The Rockies have been an early surprise and send Castellani, who was a star in the Arizona Fall League against the Mariners and Margevicus, who was 0-2 with a 16.55 ERA against Colorado last year. Take the Rockies.
Home Run: Look for Atlanta’s Ronald Acuna and the Angels’ Anthony Rendon to homer Saturday night.
