Bet Friday MLB! Eckel has picks for Red Sox vs Yankees, Reds vs Tigers, Pirates vs Cubs, and HR plays
A great effort by Cleveland’s Shane Bieber against the Minnesota Twins kept us from consecutive 3-for-3 nights.
The Yankees and the over 10 made it a winning Thursday night, however, so let’s try again Friday.
Boston Red Sox at New York Yankees, 7:05 p.m.
Pitchers: Ryan Weber vs. Jordan Montgomery
Odds: Yanks -200; Red Sox +150
Over/Under: 10 1/2
Cincinnati Reds at Detroit Tigers, 7:10 p.m.
Pitchers: Luis Castillo vs. Spencer Turnbull
Odds: Reds -150; Tigers +130
Pittsburgh Pirates at Chicago Cubs, 8:15 p.m.
Pitchers: Trevor Williams vs. Yu Darvish
Odds: Cubs -180; Pirates +170
The Cycle
Single: The Yanks, at -200, is a little risky but taking over 10 1/2 runs isn’t. Both of these teams can score runs and should do so in the opener of this series Friday night.
Double: Somehow the Reds lost two of three to the Tigers at home to open the season. Castillo dominated in his start only to see his bullpen blow the game. Look for another dominant performance, and a win, from Castillo Friday night.
Triple: Williams hasn’t been right since he was really good in 2018 and was roughed up again in his first start of the season. The Cubs are hitting the ball and Darvish is tough against the Pirates. Put the Cubs, at -180, in a parlay with the Reds or the Yanks over.
Home Run: We’ll stick with the teams we picked and go with New York’s Aaron Judge, Cincinnati’s Eugenio Suarez and Chicago’s Kyle Schwarber to homer Friday night.
