MLB Bets: Eckel picks the best over/under bets in a 60 game season

It’s hard to fathom, even in this fathomless season, a 30-30 team making the postseason, but who knows what to expect in 2020?

In what is scheduled to be a 60-game MLB season it will be interesting to see how many wins it takes to win a division or be a wild-card team.

It’s hard to fathom, even in this fathomless season, a 30-30 team making the postseason, but who knows what to expect in 2020?

Over/under odds have bet set for all 30 teams and here are what we at Bettors Insider (or at least me) think are the two best over and two best under bets to make this season.

Unders

Houston Astros (35): The absolute last thing baseball wants, or needs, is the Astros to be good. And God forbid they end up back in the World Series. I’m not saying things are rigged, but every team they play is going to give the Astros their best effort. Take the under 35 wins and hope this team falls apart.

Toronto(?) Blue Jays (28): This was a tough number before the poor Blue Jays didn’t just get kicked out of Toronto but kicked out of Canada altogether. With a schedule that includes 20 of the 60 games against the Yankees and Rays and 20 more against a competitive NL East, the Jays will have a hard time getting to those 28 wins.

Overs

St. Louis Cardinals (31 1/2): Go ahead and underestimate the Cardinals. It won’t be the smartest thing you did this year. It doesn’t matter the manager, the lineup, the rotation, this team finds ways to win games. And winning 32 out of 60 shouldn’t be a problem. And will make you a winner when you take the over.

Los Angeles Angels (32): This is my hunch team for 2020. My thought process is when you have the best player in the game (Mike Trout), maybe the second-best player (Anthony Rendon) and the best manager (Joe Maddon) you should at least go 33-27. And that would be good enough to cash an over ticket.
