BoopProps Saturday Baseball: Summer Camp games with Phillies vs. Pirates, Pirates vs. Indians and Mets vs. Yankees

Saturday, July 18

Well, lookie here . . .

There is kinda, sorta quasi-real Major League Baseball to be played tonight in the form of three exhibition games – or Summer Camp games, as MLB seems to want to call them.

Nevertheless, there will be real big-leaguers pitching, batting, running and fielding . . . and that can only mean one thing:

Betting.

There is absolutely no one on the face of the planet that has ever had to suffer through one of these baseball restarts from a pandemic. The 1981 season was split in two via a work stoppage which had guys headed to the beach and going fishing instead of staying home and being quarantined. How these regular season games play out is anyone’s guess. And double that for these exhibition games.

But . . . let’s that a stab anyway. The age-old adage of the pitchers being ahead of the hitters to start a season died out when the likes of Tom Seaver and Steve Carlton tossing eight-inning, opening-day gems gave way to two-times-through-the-lineup and bullpen-by-committee. And you know the committees they toss out there today will have many members, and some of them may not be very good.

So . . . We go with the offense. The Over/Unders today are:

7.5 Phillies-Nationals (6:05);

8.5 Indians-Pirates (7:05/MLBN);

8.5 Yankees-Mets (7:10).

Let’s go Over on all of them, but for a little less money ($5) that normal ($10), since it is "Summer Camp".

Phillies-Nationals Over 7.5 (-115) . . . $5/$4.35

Indians-Pirates Over 8.5 (+100) . . . $5/$5

Yankees-Mets Over 8.5 (+100) . . . $5/$5

The actual outcomes of the games will be like flipping three coins, so let’s just take a long-shot stab at the three underdogs to win in a parlay for another fin.

Three-Team Parley (+871) . . . $5/$43.54

> Phillies (+116 ) over Nationals

> Pirates (+110) over Indians

> Mets (+114) over Yankees

Once we see how Saturday plays out, we’ll determine if we are gonna keep sending our money to this Summer Camp.
