The Skinny:
Let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves on the “Phillies Being Back” train. Nick Pivetta is inconsistent at best, and the Phillies are 0-7 in Pivetta’s last seven road starts. Add in that the Braves are 6-1 in their last seven games following a loss and you have your play. . . . To say Tuesday night was a fluke might not be giving enough credit to the Mets for going out and winning the game. But it was a fluke. Plus, the Yankees are good on both Wednesdays and after a loss.They are 5-1 in their last six after scoring two runs or less in their previous game and 6-1 in their last seven Hump Day games. . . . I don’t have a ton of faith in this one, simply because Walker Buehler has been so good this year, as have the Dodgers, but anything +200 or more is worth a look. The Diamondbacks are 4-1 in Merrill Kelly’s last five starts with four days of rest and 8-2 in their last 10 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600. Seems like it’s not out of the realm of possibility. . . . This is a little less than a pick ’em, but I’m picking the team on the plus side, so more money in our pockets! The Athletics are 5-0 in Mike Fiers' last five starts and 12-3 in Fiers' last 15 home starts. The Twins are 1-4 in their last five road games.
