God's Tipster's Friday Gulfstream Park Pick: The 7th is a dirt mile for older, and one gets a Positive Review

Thursday’s Race Recap from Gulfstream:

Gulfstream Park:

Race 1: 1st@ 6.00/1 🏖️🏖️🏖️🏖️🏖️

Race 4: 3rd@ 5.70/1

Race 9: 6th@ 2.30/1

In Race 1, Beachland broke last but quickly recovered to a perfect pocketed trip behind the speed which she used to her advantage as the favorites on the front end began to wilt as she exploded up the rail for a handy 6/1 score. In Race 4, Gingersnap Jack rallied mildly from off the pace for third. In Race 9, Spirit’s Mischief raced with the pace and faced in the drive.

We’ll stick to Gulfstream for our penultimate Friday card. I’m expecting fast and firm conditions, but you never know if the management at Gulfstream will decide we’re running turf races on synthetic today on a whim. Let’s get started!

Gulfstream Park:

Race 7: Positive Review - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)

Allowance/optional claimers go mile and our likely odds on favorite is Dynamic One who returns off a layoff of over a year. That’s right, odds on favoritism to a horse who’s been off for 15 months who’s 0 for 2 over the Gulfstream surface and who’s speed figures in his two races over the Gulfstream Park surface are nowhere close to the speed figures achieved by his higher-priced competitors. Positive Review has no layoff to overcome and has wins over today’s surface and distance. His two races at today’s distance were the best of his career most recently finishing second behind multiple stakes winner Steal Sunshine. He’s likely to get overlooked in the wagering but stretches out from a sprint and should sit the right trip off the speed.
