God's Tipster's Friday Aqueduct Pick: The 9th is a sprint for low-level claimers – but even slow horses pay

Race 8: SCRATCH

In Race 1, Risk Free stalked and was moving best late but she’s always a bridesmaid and that story hasn’t changed as she checked in a closing third after her rider ran into the backside of the leader early. In Race 3, Martingale ran his race from the start but it wasn’t enough to take down the eventual winner and he finished third. In Race 6, Ghostbustin broke well on debut, battled through a quick pace, turned back her speedy rival but wasn’t able to hold off Bussia giving us our third in-the-money finish of the afternoon.

We’ll stay at Aqueduct for the weekend with fast and firm conditions expected for Friday’s races. Let’s get to work!

Aqueduct:

Race 9: First Class Cat - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 10/1)

More basement-level maiden claimers bred in New York going six furlongs. First Class Cat is a debut runner breaking from the rail and that can be a dicey proposition at times but she really catches a weak field today. Trainer John Kimmel is winning at a strong 21% for the meet and he has a robust 24% win percentage with dirt runners making their career debut sprinting in these New York bred races. The barn has a strong win percentage with today’s rider and I like the gate work at five furlongs before the three furlong tightener in advance of today’s race. Nobody in this field deserves to be 10/1 because the quality is so bad!
