Race 1: SCRATCH

Race 4: 4th@ 2.68/1
Race 9: 4th@ 3.40/1
We kicked off our week with a scratch in Race 1. In Race 2, Goshen got us off to a great start with a gate to wire tour de force at 6.68/1!!
In Race 4, Just an Opinion was tucked away towards the inside early then got shuffled back before closing late for fourth. In Race 9, Catalina Crush raced wide with the pace and tired to fourth.
Let’s take a trip to chilly, breezy Aqueduct racetrack for a Thursday afternoon. There’s no rain in the forecast so I’m handicapping for fast and firm conditions. Let’s GOOOOOOOO!!!!!
Aqueduct:
Race 6: Scherzando - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)
NY bred maidens sprint 7 furlongs here and I’m siding with the most experienced runner in the group - Scherzando. Scherzando has five more total starts than the rest of the field combined and that often deters people from picking runners like these but if the numbers are there, I like the value in these types. Scherzando has been doing most of his running on turf lately but his career best race was actually on the main track, right here at Aqueduct. A surface he hasn’t raced on since March. He’s finished second in three of his last four starts missing my small margins and he should get the right pace setup off the speed runners in here. His most recent dirt race was better than it looks as 6 of the 7 runners who have returned improved their speed figures in their next start. I’ll take the 8/1 morning line on this one all day.
