Wednesday’s Race Recap from Churchill Downs:
(All odds US)
Race 4: 4th@ 2.09/1
Race 5: 10th@ 57.08/1
Race 6: 5th@ 14.79/1
In Race 4, Tribest raced between horses most of the way and began gaining ground on the turn. From sixth to fifth to fourth to third to second but she weakened in the final furlong and a half and had to settle for fourth. In Race 5, I took a flyer on Earl of Dassel but he didn’t factor from his outside post and in Race 6, Lover Girl fell too far behind a fast early pace and couldn’t make up the necessary ground late finishing fifth.
Let’s take a trip up north to Aqueduct where we’re expecting chilly temps with a fast track and a firm turf course. Let’s get to the action!
Race 8: Golden Rocket - 2 pts win - BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 4/1)
Allowance optional claimers race a mile and a sixteenth on turf. Golden Rocket is one I’ve chased a few times this year to no avail. Last year we caught her at 33/1 at Saratoga to kick off a memorable weekend for us but she’s been absent from the winner’s circle since that effort. Absent but not without trying. Last time out she ran the best race of her season finishing a closing second after chasing Masterofthetunes around the track with no pace pressure. I loved the way she leveled out and although she wasn’t catching Collaboration that day, she won’t have to deal with her today. I think she’ll get the jump on the deep closers and this race is hers to win or lose. Value at 4/1 or higher.
Best of luck to all our members playing Thursday’s races from Aqueduct!
