God's Tipster's Thursday Belmont at Aqueduct Pick: 9th is a longshot special, a turf route for NY-bred maidens

We began our week with Puckered💋 shooting to the lead while making her main track debut. She set a deliberate pace before drawing away to a clear-cut and DECISIVE victory as the 8/5 favorite. In Race 4 Honor Gold raced mid-pack early and closed well late to beat 7 other rivals but couldn’t catch Creative Way so we had to settle for 2nd. In Race 9, Promisemeanempire raced between horses early and checked once along the backstretch then came with her run while battling in the stretch but had to settle for third.
A first a second and a third from three selections on the day. We’ll take a flight up north to Belmont at Aqueduct for Thursday’s races. We’re expecting sunshine for the next few days with fast and firm conditions. Let’s get to work!
Belmont at Aqueduct:
Race 9: Thatsmyboxer - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 15/1)
New York Bred maiden claimers close out our day racing a mile and a sixteenth on turf. In this past Sunday’s final race of the day we had a similar race that was won by a 96/1 shot going gate to wire. These races are short on form and oftentimes long on parimutuel payouts, so I’m siding with a layoff runner for the always dangerous barn of David Donk – Thatsmyboxer. This three-year-old son of Big Brown debuted sprinting on turf at Belmont and raced evenly in two starts. He’s had three works since his most recent start but what attracted me the most to this runner are Donk’s stats with runners of this ilk. Over the last five years Donk has had four runners return off similar layoffs on turf going from sprint to route and they’ve put up an average speed figure of 69.3 at average odds of just over 20/1. I look for a much improved effort from Thatsmyboxer today at long odds.
