Wednesday’s Race Recap from Saratoga:
(All odds US)
Saratoga:
Race 6: 2nd@ 1.15/1
Race 7: 4th@ 3.25/1
Race 8: 11th@ 4.40/1
Race 9: 6th@ 4.30/1
Race 10: 2nd@ 6.60/1
In Race 6, Mischief Joke was poised to take the lead on the far turn, made his move, took the lead from Skyler’s Starship but that seventh furlong had Mischief Joke looking for a place to lay down and he left the door open for Skyler’s Starship to win. In Race 7, British Royalty raced near the back of the pack early and rallied only mildly never really contending. In Race 8, Strapped raced two wide early and had no response late. In Race 9, Aggregation raced inside until the turn, then came up empty. In Race 10, Iguazu looked to get us on the board to close out the day at 6/1 under a seemingly perfectly timed ride by Flavien Prat, but was nailed in the shadow of the wire by Cherokee Cottage at 17/1. It was one of those days.
We’ve got a chance of rain on Thursday so I’m focusing on dirt races. Let’s get started!
Saratoga:
Race 7: Mia Bea Star - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)
Allowance/ optional claimers go a mile on dirt here and we’ve got an even money favorite breaking from post 1 with the red-hot connections of Linda Rice and Jose Ortiz. I find it interesting that Mia Bea Star is 6/1, considering the two finished less than two lengths apart last time out but the much lower profile connections is a big difference-maker on the odds-board. Mia owns more wins at today’s one-mile distance than anyone in the field and she actually defeated today’s heavy morning line favorite at today’s one-mile distance by nearly five lengths in January. She should have plenty of pace to set up her closing kick and has a workout under her belt in preparation for today. All systems go!
Best of luck to all our members playing Thursday’s races from Saratoga!
