Wednesday’s Race Recap from Saratoga:
(All odds US)
Saratoga:
Race 1: SCRATCH
Race 4: 7th@ 12.00/1
Race 9: SCRATCH
Optimism didn’t pay off after reading the early report that races 1,4 and 9 - the exact races I tabbed with selections for the day were the three races they had taken off the turf. We scratched in Races 1 & 9 after we got washed off the turf and in Race 4, Now Showing, who stood little chance with the race being put on the main track, actually broke okay but had to check off heels on the backstretch and faded in the drive.
Let’s get to Thursday’s races from Saratoga! Without much rain in the forecast I’m shooting for fast and firm conditions again but flip a coin.
Saratoga:
Race 10: Scherzando - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/1)
Turf sprinters (I hope it stays on turf) race 5 1/2 furlongs and my selection of Scherzando is an example of a winner at decent odds hiding in plain sight. Scherzando doesn’t only own the top turf sprint figure in the field he owns the top three turf sprint figures. Granted he’s raced 18 times so he’s had more chances than the rest, but that’s the very reason naysayers will give for why he can’t win. “He’s had plenty of chances!” To me that experience and relative consistency over the turf will give him an advantage over some of his competitors who will need to step up just to get on his level. Last time out he raced on dirt which probably isn’t his preferred surface, but he ran fine. I think today’s the day for Scherzando and 5/1 offers good value.
Best of luck to all our members playing Thursday’s races from Saratoga!
