God's Tipster's Thursday Saratoga Pick: The 10th is a turf sprint with a closer from low-profile connections

Race 3: SCRATCH

Race 5: CANCELLED

Race 6: SCRATCH

Well I tried to handicap for ‘off the turf’ but they scratched two of three picks anyway. Then, right before Race 5 Saratoga experienced a power outage so they cancelled our one race. Today just wasn’t meant to be. The good news is that we’ll get another chance to bet a few of our scratched runners on tomorrow’s race card.

Let’s take a look at Thursday’s races. Turf racing is up in the air, so I’ll handicap with both surfaces in mind.

Saratoga:

Race 10: Collect From Ike - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)

Maiden claimers sprint on turf and with an abundance of speed lined up I’m siding with not only a cutback, not only the runner with the strongest closing figure but the runner with the BEST overall speed figure on turf in the field. Super low-profile connections claimed this guy from a high-profile barn so he’s not likely to be respected much on the odds board, but he gets a capable rider and I love the workout pattern in preparation for this effort. New trainer has put three consecutive speedy three-furlong workouts into this guy and I give him a big shot here at 8/1 or higher.
