Thursday’s Race Recap from Saratoga:
(All odds US)
Saratoga:
Race 2: 4th@ 3.75/1
Race 6: 4th@ 3.45/1
Race 8: 7th@ 24.00/1
In Race 2, Anileate was taken well off a slow pace by Jose Lezcano and the speed ran off with the race while we chugged along for fourth. In Race 6, Kant Call It sped out the early lead but the hot pace and hot temps got to her as she tired to fourth. In Race 8, Treasure Trove was taken back to last early and that’s where he stayed. Turns out he’s not a marathoner after all.
We’re headed into a balmy Friday at Saratoga with fast and firm conditions expected. Let’s get to work!
Saratoga:
Race 10: Gilmore - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/2
The Grade 2 Amsterdam is our feature race of the day and 9/5 morning line choice Drew’s Gold is a deserving favorite on paper. A winner of 4 of 5 starts with his only loss coming to Arabian Lion in the Grade 1 Woody Stephens, Drew’s Gold passed his class test last time out in spite of that loss. The difference is that with his rail post he’ll have to battle early with Ryvit and New York Thunder if he’s going to hold that rail position. And while he did face some strong competition last time out, they went slower on the front end early than many expected and benefited from that. Gilmore got a wide trip that day and was closing best at the end of the Woody Stephens, so he gets the nod today. Top connections in his corner have him working well in preparation and there appears to be plenty of gas on the front end to set up his closing kick this time whereas last time he was at a disadvantage with a slow early pace.
Best of luck to all our members playing Friday’s races from Saratoga!
