Wednesday’s Race Recap from Saratoga:
(All odds US)
Race 3: 1st@ 0.85/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Race 5: 9th@ 2.40/1
Race 7: 2nd@ 2.50/1
We began our week with Gram getting a perfect, ground saving trip before blasting away from her rivals in the stretch to start our week with a WIN. She went off at 4/5 here in the US. I’m hoping some of our UK members locked in the 2/1 morning line. In Race 5, Moon Watch was bet down to favoritism off her 7/2 morning line. She was keyed up early while wide and made an early move but faded once the real running began. In Race 7, Arrest Me Red was given the perfect stalking trip beneath Irad Ortiz and fired his best shot but just missed in a bang-bang photo finish that went to favored Our Shot.
We’ve got a bit of rain in the forecast for Saratoga but it only looks like a shower and I might regret this but I’m optimistically handicapping for fast & firm conditions there. Let’s get some money!
Race 8: Treasure Trove - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 15/1)
The Birdstone at 1 3/4 miles is an extra early prep for the Breeders Cup Marathon (they changed the name of the race but it’ll always be the BC Marathon to me). Next was the winner of that very race last year and although he finished third in his return to the races on Kentucky Derby week, he bounced back from that with a popular win in the Grade 2 Brooklyn last time out. He’ll face pace pressure today from Sea Foam though, and I don’t see that boding well for anyone on the pace, so I’m siding with a runner who’s proven he can win from off the pace and that’s Treasure Trove. Treasure Trove hasn’t seen the winners circle since February but has won 11 times in his 54-race career so he’s no stranger to the winner’s circle. He hasn’t been this far just yet, but his longer races on his past performances have stronger speed figures than his shorter races so I’m siding with him and 16% winning rider, Javier Castellano to post the upset.
Best of luck to all our members playing Thursday’s races from Saratoga!
