Wednesday’s Race Recap from Delaware:
(All odds US)
Delaware Park:
Race 2: 3rd@ 4.20/1
Race 3: 1st@ 1.20/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Race 4: 3rd@ 0.80/1
Race 8: 1st@ 0.20/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
In Race 2, Suzy Q the Queen sat off a fast early pace and the early leader never came back while Suzy chugged along for third. In Race 3, Maybe it’s Time was bet down to 6/5 off a 10/1 line (yikes!) and shot to the front early and would not be caught as he rebounded off consecutive losses of 36 lengths, 97 lengths and 29 lengths for a 3+ length win today. In Race 4, Flat Out Flying was shuffled back early and got hemmed in on the backstretch but when push came to shove, he just didn’t have enough as the top two finishers and had to settle for third. In Race 8, Honeycamp was sent to the lead at 1/5 odds while being pressed from the outside but that competitor was no match as Honeycamp went gate to wire giving us TWO wins and a pair of third place finishes from four selections on the day. Although they ended up much shorter here in the States, I’m hoping that some of our members locked in the 10/1 and 3/2 morning line on those two.
IT’S TIIIIME!!!!!
Opening Day at Saratoga is HERE!!
As we head into Saratoga 2023 here are my stats there for the last few years (based on $2 win bets):
Saratoga:
2019: $1.66 ROI - 106 wagers
2020: $2.00 ROI - 146 wagers
2021: $2.04 ROI - 143 wagers
2022: $2.49 ROI - 131 wagers
Improvements every year and this is going to be my BEST year yet.
There’s a 40% chance of rain as of the time I’m writing this email. I’m not going to take any chances so I’m only handicapping dirt races. Let’s get to work.
Saratoga:
Race 9: Becky’s Joker - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 15/1)
Picking one Gary Contessa debut runner at Saratoga is one thing. But picking a Gary Contessa trained debut runner in a Grade 3 stake - that may be grounds for revocation of my license to handicap races! The Grade 3 Schuylerville at 6 Furlongs is our feature race on the card. We’ve got 11 runners – all of whom won their debut race but like Race 2 there are no monsters in here. I’ve watched replays for every runner in this field and there are no world-beaters. Becky’s Joker is interesting for a few reasons similar to those reasons I liked Contessa’s debut runner in Race 2. With the exception of one filly in here (Dancing Diana) no runner has a five-furlong workout since their most recent start. Debuting Becky’s Joker has three five-furlong drills. Despite the fact that 10 of 11 runners have these debut wins, none of them have raced today’s six-furlong distance. Becky’s Joker actually has a six-furlong workout as well. Nobody else in the field has that on their worktab. I love the 34.4 second blowout on July 7 which seems to indicate she’s sharp for this.
Best of luck to all our members playing Thursday’s opening day card from Saratoga!!
