God's Tipster's Thursday Belmont Park pick: The 9th is turf sprint for maiden claimers with Wicked longshot

Good morning racing fans! After a three day break, we’re back for another amazing week of racing from the U.S. We skipped Delaware on Wednesday, but I’ll be making up for it today with a few extra selections (six in total) I feel offer good value on today’s card. We’ll mostly be focused at Belmont Park this week. I’m handicapping for fast and firm conditions on Thursday’s “twilight” late afternoon card. Let’s get right to the action.

Belmont Park:

Race 9: Beautifully Wicked - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 20/1)

Maiden claimers bred in New York sprint 6 furlongs on turf and we just saw Jena Antonucci become the first female trainer to win a Triple Crown race when Arcangelo won the Belmont Stakes. What better time for a female trainer to win the ninth race at Belmont with a debut runner Beautifully Wicked. Okay, maybe the analogy missed, its mark but I’m hoping this runner won’t. She makes her debut for trainer Leah Gyarmati, whose turf runners tend to get overlooked. Over the past three years, Gyarmati has debuted exactly two horses in turf races between 6 and 7 furlongs in distance. One of them finished 4th only losing by 3 lengths at 33/1 and the other one won at 28/1. The winner was ridden by Junior Alvarado as Beautifully Wicked is today. While this one’s dam never raced on turf, the second dam was a three-time turf winner who debuted winning while sprinting on turf. Sire Wicked Strong isn’t known for turf progeny yet, but he’s by Hard Spun who could run on anything. This miss will be a huge price and deserves a look here.
