God's Tipster's Wednesday Churchill Downs Pick: In the 9th, looking for a longshot to upset Wesley Ward duo

Good morning racing fans and welcome to another exciting week of racing from around the U.S. I’ve mentioned it before - I understand that some of our international members don’t have the ability to wager on races from Churchill Downs. This is something that’s out of my control. This is Kentucky Derby week so I will be making selections at Churchill Downs. In the past, CDI has loosened restrictions in the days leading up to the Derby so hopefully that will happen again. For Wednesday, Churchill Downs is pretty much our only option anyway and their race card is stacked.

With no rain in the forecast I’m expecting fast and firm conditions. Let’s get to work!

Churchill Downs:

Race 9: American Apple - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 20/1)

Our co-feature race on today’s card is the Mamzelle Overnight at 5 1/2 furlongs on turf. Trainer Wesley Ward has the two morning line favorites in Lady Hollywood (who got nipped by a stablemate after getting a perfect trip last time out) and Shootoutthelights - a speedy winner at Gulfstream on debut who’s now facing a tougher field and has an additional 1/2 furlong to navigate. American Apple will be overlooked from her outside post but she’s one of three graded stakes winners in this field of 10. Last time out she finished only two lengths behind morning line favorite Lady Hollywood but was taken very wide that day. If Gerardo Corrales can tuck her in today she’ll have a big chance to upset the (American) “Apple-Cart”
