Good morning racing fans and welcome back to another exciting week of racing from around the U.S.! We’ve got racing from Aqueduct and opening day from Churchill Downs for the Kentucky Derby meet and with rain in the forecast at Tampa Bay Downs we’ll take a look at some racing from Keeneland for Wednesday. Fast and firm conditions are expected. Let’s get started!

Keeneland:

Race 7: Gold Luck - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)

Mid-level claimers sprint 6 furlongs here in a race where three of the six runners are returning from layoff ranging from 3 to 10 months. Gold Luck is my selection and he’s not returning from a layoff but he was claimed from his last start by Jonathan Wong, who’s currently winning at 38% for the meet. His last three starts have been over polytrack but a repeat of his maiden score from last September would put him right in the mix here. That day he defeated 11 rivals and of the 10 who have raced since, 9 of those improved their speed figure in their next start. The U.S.’s leading rider, Irad Ortiz gets the call here for a barn that wins at a 28% clip with runners first time off the claim. They’ve got 5 workouts into this guy since the claim including several at the 5 furlong distance (my favorite!) 6/1 odds sound more than fair.

Wishing our members the very best of luck on Wednesday’s races from Keeneland!
