Saturday’s Race Recap from Gulfstream:

(All odds US)

Gulfstream Park:

Race 8: 7th@ 34.20/1

Race 9: 7th@ 4.80/1

Race 10: 2nd@ 2.40/1

Race 11: 3rd@ 2.30/1

Race 12: 1st@ 0.20/1 - BEST BET 🔥🔥

Took a shot in Race 8 with Ghost Giant who was a little closer to a pace that was a little slower than I expected. When push came to shove Ghost Giant had no punch. In Race 9, Scarmouche wasn’t up to the task either as he stalked a wicked fast pace and fell apart when they turned for home. In Race 10, Chili Flag got a good trip but got going too late and ended up second. In Race 11, Principe d’Oro was sent to the lead through punishing fractions for some reason in his first race off a long layoff. Understandably the fast pace took its toll and he faded to third. In Race 12, Carl Spackler stalked a few tomato cans and when they hit the far turn he exploded away for an easy win as our day’s BEST BET. I’m hoping lots of our international members locked in the 6/5 morning line odds. We got 1/5 odds here in the U.S.

Saturday’s Race Recap from Oaklawn:

(All odds US)

Oaklawn Park:

Race 11: 7th@ 11.20/1

Gun Pilot was positioned well early along the sloppy rail but didn’t have any fight when the real running began and backed away tamely in the drive.

A BEST BET first, a second, a third and triple 7-7-7’s with the rest of my picks. Aside from the easy winner it was a disappointing day.

Let’s close out the week and another profitable month with a Sunday race card from Gulfstream. We’re looking to send off the month of February with some fireworks. We are expecting fast and firm conditions. Let’s get started!

Sunday at Gulfstream Park:

Race 9: Willakia - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)

Allowance optional claiming runners race 7 1/2 furlongs on the turf in this one and there’s plenty of speed signed on so I’m giving Willakia the nod. First turn out she sprinted 6 and looked like she needed the start finishing 6th but also finishing fastest of all in a snappy 11.26 for her final 1/8th of a mile. Next time out she chased a slow pace and again closed extremely fast finishing a mile and a sixteenth in 29.28. She got her maiden win at Keeneland next time out finishing her next mile and a sixteenth race in a wicked 28.50 seconds. She should benefit from any early pace here. Trainer, Graham Motion wins at an impressive 31% with runners coming off layoffs of 6 months or more and does particularly well with turf sprinters (19% wins). This miss has been working steadily since the beginning of the year with several five furlong turf drills. Let’s close out a short month with a longshot! Willakia for the WIN!

Best of luck to all our members playing Sunday’s races from Gulfstream!
