Good morning racing fans and welcome to another exciting week of racing from around the US. We’ve got the Grade 2 Rebel from Oaklawn Park on tap for Saturday as our feature race of the week. In the meantime we’ll kick off festivities with a Wednesday race card from Gulfstream where we are expecting fast and firm conditions beneath sunny skies. Let’s GO!
Wednesday at Gulfstream Park:
Race 9: Father Glado - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 20/1)
Mid-level claimers wrap up our Wednesday going a mile on the turf and there looks to be a fair amount of speed signed on here as the 1,3,4,5,6,7, and 9 all like to hear their hooves rattle early. Of the closers I like Father Glado for 17% winning trainer Jose D’Angelo and Javier Castellano. Last year Father Glado had two stakes tries over the Gulfstream Park turf and in one of those tries he nearly upset the Dania Beach won by Grand Sonata. That one would go on to win the Grade 3 Kitten’s Joy and place in several other graded stakes races before his 2022 season was over. Father Glado was laid off after an unsuccessful return in the summer at Gulfstream where his connections oddly didn’t try running him on turf. Last time out was his first race since early August and he ran as though he needed the start. Jose Ortiz went through the motions but I get the impression there will be more in the tank today. Trainer D’Angelo wins with Castellano on nearly 30% of their mounts together and also entered Chasing Rainbows to ensure an honest pace. This one has also worked three times since that return effort and could upset the apple cart here at a square price.
Best of luck to all our members playing Wednesday’s races from Gulfstream!
