Gulfstream Park:

Race 4: 3rd@ 4.30/1

Race 7: 4th@ 14.40/1

Our week began in Race 4 where we were trying to snipe a fraudulent favorite. We were successful in doing so but our selection, Bourbon Therapy, was given too much to do and was rallying late for third after going widest of all entering the stretch. In Race 7, Sir Samuel was wide on both turns, made a menacing move and continued on gamely between horses before getting passed late.

Let’s head back to sunny, South Florida for a Thursday race card. Fast and firm conditions are expected once again. Let’s get started.

Thursday at Gulfstream Park:

Race 5: Grace Darling - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 9/2)

More three-year-old maiden fillies sprinting 7 1/2 furlongs on turf. Once again I’m taking a stand against a Chad Brown first time starter as he only wins with 10% of his debut runners here on the Gulfstream turf. Grace Darling makes her stateside debut for the red hot barn of Brian Lynch (28% wins) and she’s our selection here. She sprinted twice over the summer over in Ireland but she appears better bred for the slightly longer distance she’ll get today. This miss owns a 440 Tomlinson for turf and has been working up a storm including a sizzling 58.4 five furlong move on Jan. 15. I love seeing a few five furlong breezes here and these connections have been on a roll connecting with 23% of their turf sprinters this year. This runner looks live.
