God's Tipster's Wednesday Gulfstream Park Pick: The 4th is a dirt mile for 3yo maiden claimers

We’ve got sunny skies on the calendar all week long at Gulfstream. Fast and firm conditions are expected for Wednesday’s races. Let’s get right to it!

Gulfstream Park:

Race 4: Capodecina - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)

Three year old maiden claimers race a mile on dirt here. This is a pretty rough looking field and for me the diamond in the rough might be Capodecina. Capodecina raced his first two starts on polytrack where he seemed to be figuring things out. Today he enters with a reasonably strong 4 furlong workout for this group as he adds both Lasix and blinkers for the first time. Trainer George Weaver has good numbers with his first time Lasix/first time blinkers runners (22% wins) and he sends most of them to the lead in those starts. I don’t love the jockey selection but in a race of this caliber of competition I’m going to give a long look to the runner with the best early speed and I can see Capodecina being that runner today from his rail post.
