Thursday’s Race Recap from Gulfstream:

(All odds US)

Replays for Thursday’s races from Gulfstream can be found here at Gulfstream Park

Gulfstream:

Race 7: 10th@ 2.20/1

Race 8: 7th@ 25.00/1

Race 9: 2nd@ 1.80/1

In Race 7, Paris Peacock was bet down to 2/1 favoritism off a 6/1 morning line. Jockey Julien Leparoux has been good to us over the years but this wasn’t his finest moment. He didn’t get the early lead but had decent positioning early. He got shuffled back inside on the far turn and he all but gave up once that happened eventually checking in tenth. In Race 8, Wilma Mankiller broke last and looked to be in good position early then had to search for room around the far turn and had no punch when it counted. After two last-place finishes we were searching for redemption in Race 9 with R Rose’ All Day. She battled from start to finish ending up in a photo at the end that actually took a few minutes to decipher. In the end a half-inch separated first from second and we came out on the losing end. Redemption will have to come on Friday instead.

We are remaining at Gulfstream through Sunday so let’s take a look at Friday’s “Pre-Pegasus” card. Quite a difference between the caliber of horses running today vs. the ones you’ll see tomorrow. Today’s are a rough bunch.

Friday at Gulfstream Park:

Race 10: Midnight Getaway - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 5/2)

Maiden claimers close us out sprinting 5 furlongs on the tapeta and Midnight Getaway is the choice. She owns three of the top four speed figures on tapeta in the field and drops back to her lowest level once again - a level she actually won at back in November but she lugged in and was disqualified. 5/2 odds on what looks like the class in the field sounds just fine to me.

Best of luck to all our members playing Friday's races from Gulfstream!
