Good morning U.S. racing fans we have another exciting week of U.S. racing ahead. We have the Southwest Stakes from Oaklawn as another step on the long road to the Triple Crown and of course we have Pegasus World Cup Day from Gulfstream this Saturday. In the meantime let’s take a look at some races from Gulfstream for Wednesday afternoon where we’re expecting fast and firm conditions.
Wednesday at Gulfstream Park:
Race 7: Ocean Air - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 20/1)
This is a tough little starter allowance race for fillies and mares and one that I predict will involve several horses battling to the wire. These can be tough races to predict but the presumed value on Ocean Air might be too good to pass up. Ocean Air hails from the barn of Mike Trombetta who knows how to win at a price with a turf horse. Last time out she ended up getting rained off to synthetic and prior to that she was running in hurdles races so she should be able to run all day. For a field this size there’s really a surprising lack of early speed and that’s something this miss owns. Her only (non hurdle) turf start of 2022 was a game performance that produced a speed figure that would prove tough against these. She actually owns the second and third best speed figures on turf for this field which is saying something for a 20/1 shot. She’s also the only runner in here with wins over the Gulfstream Park turf course and today’s mile and a sixteenth distance. Value play at 20/1 or higher.
Wishing our members the very best of luck in your wagers on Wednesday’s action from Gulfstream!
