Saturday’s Race Recap from Fair Grounds:

(All odds US)

Fair Grounds:

Race 9: 2nd@ 1.00/1

Race 12: 7th@ 20.50/1

Race 13: 1st@ 4.00/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Race 14: SCRATCH

In Race 9, Tapit’s Conquest was bet down to 1/1 off a 7/2 morning line as our BEST BET. What a mess of a ride that was by Florent Geroux. Back last behind a slow pace and he got hemmed in as he was making his move. Looked an hour the best but didn’t have the room he needed. Came up a neck short while moving up the rail. Am looking forward to betting him in his next start as that experience went a long way I’m sure. In The Silverbulletday stakes we had Norah G. who did not shoot to the lead from her inside post as we expected but was instead rated off a slow pace in last and never mounted a rally. In Race 13 we had Happy American. Expertly rated off the pace by James Graham he came widest into the stretch and gradually wore down his competition at 4/1 odds.

Tapit’s Conquest ran in Race 9 so he scratched from Race 14 - The Lecomte.

Saturday’s Race Recap from Gulfstream:

Gulfstream Park:

Race 1: 9th@ 12.70/1

Race 4: 1st@ 1.90/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

In Race 1 I took a shot hoping Love Unlimited could out-hoof everyone to the front and hold off the closers. Jockey Sonny Leon didn’t get the memo about getting to the front and he ended up in mid-pack early before tiring. In Race 4, Detroit City was 2/1 on the morning line, bet down to 1/1 early and went off at 9/5 odds. He battled for the lead early before being outpaced by inevitablconnection. That caused him to have to shuffle back and angle out for a run which he parlayed into a sweeping wide move on the far turn which resulted in an emphatic TRACK RECORD score. This was our very first win with a Jack Sisterson trained runner since we started tracking data in 2019. Welcome to the club, Jack!

We’ll close out the week at Gulfstream Park. Fast and firm conditions are expected once again. Let’s get this party started!

Sunday at Gulfstream Park:

Race 9: Sweet As Pie - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)

Allowance Optional Claimers sprint 6 furlongs on the main track in this race for fillies and mares. It’s hard to toss out anything trained by Todd Pletcher these days as all of his layoff horses seem to be running well at this meet. In the past two months he’s won two of four races (50%) with runners returning off similarly long layoffs of +180 days and when you include runners laid off between 60 and 180 days and debuting runners he’s a sparking 6 for 16 with his dirt runners at this Gulfstream meet and has won 4 of 9 (44%) in sprint races with those types in the last two months here at Gulfstream. One final stat for Pletcher is this: He’s won 22 of 57 starts (a wicked 39%) with runners 4 years old and up here at Gulfstream off layoffs of longer than 6 months. Sweet as Pie is 2 for 5 lifetime but is undefeated in her only two starts against non-stakes competition. She’s been training well enough and looks plenty live for a hot barn. I’d be very happy with 6/1 odds here.

Best of luck to all our members playing Sunday’s races from Gulfstream!
