God's Tipster's Wednesday Gulfstream Park Pick: The 9th features a maiden claimer sprint with polytrack newbie

Good morning U.S. racing fans !! Welcome to one of the sleepier weeks of the year on the U.S. racing calendar. Early January isn’t known for much exciting racing action here in the U.S. but I’ll do my best to spice things up with a big winner or two. We’re riding a 7 day win streak and hope to extend that to 365 this year! Sunny skies with fast and firm conditions are expected.

Gulfstream Park:

Race 9: Gabe - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)

Maiden claimers sprint 5 1/2 furlongs on the polytrack and Gabe is the selection here. Gabe catches a field today that’s short on talent and while he’s never raced on the polytrack surface, his sire, Unified, has won with 11 of 54 of his progeny for a sharp 20% win percentage. His dam, Minewander, was a three time winner and hit the board in 9 of 14 starts over the synthetic surface. His first two starts haven’t gotten the blood pumping but he’s been facing better and drops to the lowest level yet. He adds blinkers and Lasix for a full makeover and has three works heading into this. Value play at 8/1 or better.
