Our Saturday began with Please Be Nice running to her workouts and running her competition off their feet in a sharp gate to wire score at 3/1 odds here in the U.S. In Race 6, Machiavellique broke first on debut and was part of a 5-way scrum for the early lead. She backed up early in what looked like an experience builder for later races. In Race 8, Andiamo a Fierenze rated off the early pace like we expected but didn’t have the punch when it counted and faded to fifth. He’ll be better served cutting back facing state bred company while sprinting. In Race 9 - The Queens County - Thomas Shelby sat just off a fast pace set by Sea Foam, and put that one away on the far turn before being inhaled by the runaway winner - Law Professor. He battled on gamely for third at 16/1.

Race 2: 3rd@ 7.00/1
Race 4: 5th@ 15.20/1
In Race 2, Magical Warrior battled with the 4/5 favorite through punishing early fractions, put him away and led til mid-stretch when he was overhauled by perfect trip winner, Starship Renegade, and had to settle for the bronze medal today. In Race 4, Highland Lord gave a good account of himself on debut racing with the pace and battling on bravely between horses before checking late and finishing fifth.
We’ll close out the week at Gulfstream Park where we are expecting fast and firm conditions beneath sunny skies. Let’s get started!
Sunday at Gulfstream Park:
Race 8: Mystic Sunrise - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 20/1)
Turf maidens go 7 1/2 furlongs in this race for three year old fillies. We’ve got a 7/2 morning line second choice (Laurana) who may end up being best but I can’t tell much from her workouts. And Bo Derek is lined at 5/1 but seems like she’ll end up with more like 5/2 odds based on the connections. Mystic Sunrise is one here who’s liable to get forgotten amongst the well connected favorites. This gray daugther of Belmont Stakes winning Tapwrit, has raced only once but she stayed on gamely while racing on polytrack. She gets Lasix for the first time today and is good value at 20/1 or higher.
