Thursday’s Race Recap from Aqueduct:

(All odds US)

Race replays for yesterday’s races from Aqueduct can be found here:

Aqueduct:

Race 3: 3rd@ 5.50/1

Race 4: 8th@ 15.00/1

Race 8: 1st@ 4.50/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

In Race 3, First Deputy broke slowly and absolutely ran the race we were looking for first time for her new connections. The problem was that the speed duel that was supposed to develop between the two favorites didn’t materialize when one of them broke slowly. First Deputy came with a sustained rally for third and was gaining good ground at the end but just didn’t get the pace I had hoped for her today and after the slow break had lost his chance. In Race 4, I had the right idea looking for the speed to take them gate to wire. Unfortunately the addition of Lasix to Excalibrate didn’t help his faint-hearted nature as he was with the pace but raised the white flag by the far turn eventually fading to 8th. In Race 8, Try it Again was returning off more than a year layoff and battled for the early lead, was passed on the far turn and battled back bravely toward the inside to eek out a 9/2 victory here in the States for our members.

We’ll head back to Hallandale Beach, Florida for a sunny Friday card where fast and firm conditions are on tap. Let’s get started!

Gulfstream Park:

Race 7: Sturdy Girl - 1 pt win (US Morning Line odds: 5/1)

Maiden claimers (most of whom were bred in Florida) will sprint 5 1/2 to close out our day. We’ve got a 2/1 morning line first time starter from a high percentage barn breaking from the outside here. Her works haven’t been super fast though so I’m going with the experience edge. With three starts under her belt, Sturdy Girl has the most experience in the field. She goes turf to dirt, gets blinkers and Lasix both added for a full makeover for a capable barn and based on the probable pace setup she should be moving best late. Snappy four furlong drill on December 31 says she’s ready to go!

Best of luck to all our members playing Friday's races from Gulfstream!
