We’re back for some BONUS Monday racing from Gulfstream and Santa Anita. Only 365 shopping days til next Christmas 2023 and this is the rare Monday with Grade 1 racing action so we’re going to take advantage. Fast, firm and mild conditions are expected at both venues. Let’s get right to it!

Monday at Santa Anita:

Race 11: Salimah – 2 pts win – BEST BET (US Morning Line Odds: 7/2)

The Grade 1 American Oaks for three year old fillies at a mile and a quarter and super trainer and choke-out-artist Chad Brown ships Salimah across the country to run in her first Graded stakes race. I love the fact that he’s showing so much confidence in this daughter of El Kabeir after two sparkling efforts at shorter distances. This barn sometimes takes their time with their runners. Last time out she absolutely blasted a good field of runners in an ungraded stakes at Aqueduct. The only question is whether she’ll handle the distance and the way she ran her last, that doesn’t look like it’ll be an issue.
