God's Tipster's Wednesday Gulfstream Park Pick: The 5th is a sprint for Florida-breds with a Magic longshot

Good morning racing fans. We’re back for a Christmas week of racing from the U.S. There’s a 30% chance of rain in the forecast. Let’s get to work like Santa’s elves!

Gulfstream Park:

Race 5: Bion Magic - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 20/1)

Claiming fillies and mares bred in Florida sprint 7 furlongs here. Our 7/5 morning line favorite, Rosie’s Halo, has already lost at odds of less than 3/1 in 3 of her last four starts and she now comes off a two and a half month break and will have to contend with the improving Adios Baby to her inside. Bion Magic’s last two starts have resulted in double digit losses but you’d only have to go back to September to find races from her that would contend here. With five wins over the track she’s tied with her stablemate, Awesome Annmarie, for most wins at Gulfstream and while she doesn’t own the field’s top speed figure at the distance, she is only a point behind the field’s best at the distance and put that number up just this last August. It’s interesting that the 18% winning barn elects to use their top rider on this 20/1 runner instead of their 8/1 morning line runner and three of her six career wins have come on the heels of double-digit length losses so once again I’m taking a shot with a bomb as we look to light up the tote board like a Christmas tree.
