God's Tipster's Thursday Gulfstream Park Pick: The 9th is maiden turf route – Aspen is nice this time of year

Race 7: 6th@ 3.00/1

Race 8: 7th@ 1.80/1

Race 9: SCRATCH

Choppy start for the week. In Race 7, Rita Marga was somehow taken 6 wide into the stretch after breaking from post one but never mounted a serious rally finishing a full sixth. In Race 8, Send for Me wasn't up to the task spitting the bit off the long layoff after a punishing half mile of 44.3. Our only bright spot was that had a scratch in Race 9. We’ll stay out at Gulfstream Park for Thursday’s races where we’re expecting fast and firm conditions.

Thursday at Gulfstream Park:

Race 9: Aspen - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)

Maidens go a mile and a sixteenth on turf and there are a few in here who have a right to run well but I’m siding with debuting Aspen from the barn of Brendan Walsh. Aspen is out of the dam Dreamologist, who broke her maiden first time running on turf at 1 1/8 miles - No easy task. While this one’s siblings haven’t had a try at turf, Walsh specializes in getting turf runners ready. This one has some snappy works including a better-than-it-looks five furlongs in 1:07 with the dogs up on turf here at GP. That work was a full second (five lengths) faster than her stablemate Sri Lanka worked on the same day. That one made her turf debut on Sunday at GP and missed a 45/1 win by a neck. Top rider Tyler Gaffalione adds to the appeal.
