Thursday’s Race Recap from Aqueduct:

Aqueduct:

Race 8: 7th@ 21.90/1

Race 9: 4th@ 4.30/1

After back to back longshots at Aqueduct at 45/1 and 34/1 in races 6&7 we were hoping lightning could strike a third time as Bronx Bomber was a huge price. But despite getting a rapid pace to close into he lacked a closing punch and finished 7th. In Race 9, West Star was taken so far back I thought he was being eased out of the race and then rallied best late for fourth. Too little too late.

We’ll head back to Aqueduct for Friday’s races and are expecting sunny skies with chilly temperatures along with a fast main track. I’m still unsure about the condition of the turf course as of the writing of this email so I'm staying away from the turf races. Let’s get to it.

Friday at Aqueduct:

Race 9: Bunty Windermere - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 20/1)

This is the time of year when the not-so-great horses begin racing, so crazy things happen at Aqueduct and that’s what I’m counting on here. Race 9 is a 6 furlong allowance race for New York bred fillies and mares. There’s a good amount of speed signed on here and our selection, Bunty Windermere, has already proven herself to be a little faint-hearted to this point as it is. She wouldn’t typically be my selection in a race like this but early speed is always an asset over this course so I gave her a second look. She changed trainers prior to her most recent start and that resulted in a 52/1 win sprinting on turf in a race where she reached a new career high speed figure. Her new trainer, Derek Ryan, won with an 11/1 turf to dirt upsetter on Thursday’s card and the rider change to apprentice Jose Gomez has to be seen as an upgrade. She’s got two fast works and just might be able to speed pop this field at long odds once again.

As always I wish our members the very best of luck on Friday's races at Aqueduct!
