Thursday’s Race Recap from Aqueduct:

(All odds US)

Replays for yesterday’s races from Aqueduct can be found here:

Aqueduct:

Race 4: 7th@ 2.95/1

Race 7: 3rd@ 4.10/1

In Race 4, Sean the Hammer broke well, had to briefly check in between horses and really had nothing thereafter in a race that completely fell apart on the front end and the rank outsider closers picked up the pieces. In Race 7, April Antics was taken well off a moderate early pace and came with a wide late run finishing best of all but her bid was too late and she finished third.

We’ll stay parked at Aqueduct for Friday’s race card. We are expecting rain so I’m handicapping accordingly. Let’s get to work!

Friday at Aqueduct:

Race 9: Forty Comets - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)

Claimers sprint 7 furlongs to close out our Friday. Two horses are tied for all time top speed figure in this field and they don’t include our 5/2 morning line favorite, Breadman, who has done most of his racing on turf. Inspiration Point is one and is 4/1 on the morning line and the other is our selection, Forty Comets, who’s 12/1. Forty Comets’ recent form hasn’t looked great. A voided claim followed by 4 off-the-board finishes doesn’t exactly get anyone itching to empty their bank account to load up here but there are a few things that struck me about this entry. First, his only win, both of his career second place finishes and one of his two third place finishes happened over a wet track. That’s the type of surface we should expect today. He’s also got a win and two second place finishes over the Aqueduct surface. Today he drops to the lowest claiming level of his career and looks like he might be able to get speed-rail positioning from post three. Trainer Jim Ryerson also trains the runner in the next stall over who’s 6/1 on the morning line. Jockey Jose Lezcano has ridden both but he lands here, on the horse with the seemingly poor recent form. Lezcano piloted him to his top three career-best finishes and I think he’s live today despite his muddied-up recent form.

As always we wish our members the very best of luck betting on Friday’s races from Aqueduct!
