Good morning racing fans!!

We’re back clearing out the cobwebs from our eyes after a few days off following Breeders’ Cup week. We saw some great racing and now we get into the time of year where the graded stakes action in the U.S. calms down a little and we get into the meat-and-potatoes that makes everyday racing tick. I’ve handicapped Churchill Downs for Wednesday’s races and I know there are many international members who (for one reason or another) aren’t able to wager on that track so I’ll apologize to you now but there are just no other options today. We’ll be at Aqueduct for the rest of the week if it’s any consolation to you.

For right now we’re handicapping Churchill Downs where we are expecting fast and firm conditions beneath sunny skies. Let’s get ready to RUMBLE!!!

Wednesday at Churchill Downs:

Race 9: Charley Rude - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)

Maiden claiming fillies and mares sprint 6 furlongs to close out the day. Charley Rude gets into this race off a trainer change to the very capable Mike McCarthy. Prior to this she was campaigned as a turf runner for the Christophe Clement barn in the New York area and has never actually raced on dirt. This one’s sire, Cairo Prince only raced on dirt while the dam, Biofuel, raced mostly over the polytrack at Woodbine. She did ship in for two grade 1’s on the dirt where she ran comparably to her polytrack form so the surface change to dirt isn’t a worry. This one has been working with purpose for her new connections with 6 workouts since October 2 and 4 of those all important 5 furlong drills that I look for in returning runners like these. Florent Geroux takes the reins for shrewd ownership group that has no problem dropping a horse to a level where they’ll win even if it means they’ll lose them to a claim.

Wishing our esteemed members the very best of luck on Wednesday’s races from Churchill Downs!
