Thursday’s Race Recap from Belmont at Aqueduct:

(All odds US)

Replays for yesterday’s races from Belmont at Aqueduct can be found here:

Belmont at Aqueduct:

Race 3: 5th@ 23.70/1

Race 6: 2nd@ 3.50/1

Race 9: 8th@ 10.20/1

In Race 3, Our Boy Cheekum chased the pace, dropped back near the half mile pole, saved ground on the turn and tired. In Race 6, our debuting selection, Mariachi who was 10/1 on the morning line and opened at 2/1 ended up going off at 3.50/1 and proceeded to battle from the start with the 8/5 favorite D’ont Lose Cruz all the way around the track and down to the wire and came up a neck short. Race 9 was taken off the turf even though it hasn’t rained here in a few days. We had the debuting Aula who stalked the early pace and tired in the lane.

Let’s head back to Aqueduct for Friday’s races. We are just one week away from Breeder’s Cup Weekend. Top honors in every division from dirt sprint to turf marathon is up for grabs beginning next Friday and as always we’ll have coverage of both days of racing for you. For now we’ll focus on some Aqueduct racing where fast & firm conditions are expected once again. Let’s get to work!

Belmont at Aqueduct:

Race 8: Tax Implications - 2 pts win (US Morning Line Odds: 1/1)

I haven’t put out a two point win bet in a while nor have I selected a heavy favorite in a while but value is value and if someone can double their money by locking in 1/1 on Tax Implications I’d have to support that opinion. She had been entered in a Stakes race at Keeneland but never made it in off the ‘also eligible’ list. We picked her that day and she would’ve broken from post 12 had she drawn in. Super trainer Chad Brown brings her along. She absolutely blasted a field of maidens in her debut at Monmouth. The second place finisher whom she beat came back to win her next start. Third place finisher came back to just miss in her next start. Both improved subsequent speed figures. She looks like the real deal.

Only two picks today. I don’t love the card. We’ll save some of our bullets for the weekend and the Breeder’s Cup.

As always, wishing our members the very best of luck on Friday's races at Aqueduct!
