Belmont at Aqueduct:
Race 1: 8th@ 7.60/1
Race 6: 7th@ 26.50/1
Race 7: 4th@ 15.40/1
Race 8: 1st@ 19.10/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
In Race 1, Treasured Gem went four wide on the first turn and was reserved at the back of the pack, came under urging turning for home but failed to make an impact. In Race 6, Fast Boat to Skye raced four wide early on debut was in contention til the far turn and wilted in the lane. In Race 7, Wicked Fast was taken back to the rear of the field while saving ground, was roused on the far turn while cutting the corner into the stretch then moved off the rail in the drive to finish with good energy to finish fourth but was beaten for second by a head and a nose. We finally got on the board in Race 8 at BIG balloons once again as Flashy Alex, who owned the field’s top dirt speed figure on a fast track, was taken well back behind a moderate pace, taken 7 wide into the stretch and won going away at nearly 20/1 odds.
Saturday’s Race Recap from Keeneland:
(All odds US)
Race replays for yesterday’s races from Keeneland can be found here:
Race 6: 2nd@ 25.80/1
Race 8: 2nd@ 25.20/1
Race 9: 7th@ 15.30/1
In Race 6, the Perryville, Hoist the Gold broke a step slowly which relegated him to a stalking position behind the speed runners. He tipped four wide entering the lane and took aim at heavily favored Gunite while finishing a clear-cut 2nd at 25/1. In Race 8, we had our second straight 25/1 shot finish second as The Prince’s Spur stalked inside early just behind the early leaders, was taken 5 wide entering the stretch by John Velazquez - a rare miscue by a top rider - and Tiz Rye Time dove to the rail which has been favorable all meet and gutted out the win. The Prince’s Spur had to settle for second. In Race 9, the Lexus Raven Run, Colorful Mischief was taken off the pace and made no impact, finishing seventh.
Let’s close out another profitable week with some more racing action from Belmont at Aqueduct where we’re expecting cloudy conditions with the chance of light rain in the afternoon. We’re still handicapping for fast and firm conditions.
Sunday at Belmont at Aqueduct:
Race 9: Our Rosie Diamonds - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)
New York bred maiden claimers sprint 7 furlongs in this race for two-year-old fillies. This race looks very similar to a race we won yesterday with a 19/1 bomber. We’re going to employ the same strategy here as we did there and it’s a simple one: Who has the top speed figure on a fast dirt track. As sad as the number is, Our Rosie Diamonds and her 37 rule the roost. There are plenty of runners in this race going turf to dirt, first time dirt and even a debut runner and many handicappers will try to dream up reasons why these might be best here but Our Rosie Diamonds has shown improvement in three straight starts and is the only runner in this field to have run 7 furlongs on dirt. And she’s done it twice. She’s also one of only two in this field of 12 with a race over the Aqueduct surface. Low profile connections will ensure fair odds. She’ll be closing from the back but I like her chances a lot today and she’ll undoubtedly be overlooked.
Best of luck to everyone playing Sunday’s races from Belmont at Aqueduct!
