Belmont at Aqueduct:

Race 5: 2nd@ 1.45/1

Race 7: 3rd@ 1.70/1

Race 9: 7th@ 24.00/1

Race 10: 6th@ 18.60/1

Our tenure at Belmont at Aqueduct began with Race 5 where Lupo’s Legacy made his dirt debut. He took a ton of money here in the U.S. and went off at 7/5 odds and battled gamely to the wire but had to settle for second behind Jester’s Song. In Race 7, Mrs. Green sat just off the pace of Get the Candy and took the lead in the stretch only to be run down late by Thunder Love and Miss Tapirado. For those keeping track, that makes 8 of our last 9 selections running either second or third since Saturday! Frustrating indeed but when the handicapping is strong the results will follow. In Race 8, Shadolamo raced far back and made a middle move before fading in the drive. In Race 9, Islandman stalked the pace and the speed went gate to wire.

We’ll head back to Belmont at Aqueduct for Friday’s races. Beautiful conditions are expected once again with a fast main track and a firm turf course. Let’s get to the action!

Friday at Belmont at Aqueduct:

Race 9: Inspiration Point - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 8/1)

Lower-level claimers square off in this 6 1/2 furlong event where it’s hard to trust any of the favorites. Street Culture is 3/1 on the morning line and really only has one speed figure in his 5 career starts that could contend with this group and that was his maiden-breaking effort when facing a weak field. Besos (1 for 10 lifetime) is coming off a June layoff and dropping by just about 50% of his last claiming price and is 7/2 on the morning line. I’m siding with Inspiration Point. This $725k purchase is now being offered for a measly $16k and drops in class from his last start. Prior to that he had run back-to-back efforts that would win this. He’s got a running style where he can stalk the lace and make his move: he was taken wide last time out and lost any chance and deserves a look here at his 8/1 morning line.

Good luck to all our members playing Friday’s races from Belmont at Aqueduct!
