Saratoga:
Race 10: 5th@ 5.10/1
We only had one selection on Thursday’s race card. Pachuca was a bit of a price going first time turf in a Stakes. She raced near the back most of the way and rallied only mildly for fifth. I’ll look for her back on dirt next time out.
We’re expecting beautiful weather with fast and firm track conditions for Friday. We’re firing with a few shorter priced horses today in an effort to kick off our weekend and our September with a few winners. Let’s get to work!
Friday at Saratoga:
Race 9: Angitude - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 4/1)
The Grade 2 Prioress at six furlongs for three year old fillies is today’s feature race and it features an intriguing matchup between die-hard speed runners: Hot Peppers and Smash Ticket. There’s plenty of other pace in here and that’s why I like Angitude to pick up the pieces. Sure, Angitude has plenty of pace herself but last time out she rated nicely on the lead going a mile and damn near won the whole race missing in the Wilton Stakes to Tarabi (who finished third in last year’s Breeder’s Cup Juvenile Fillies) and Goddess of Fire who subsequently finished third in the Grade 1 Alabama last weekend behind Nest and Secret Oath. So the class is there and the pace setup should be there. Connections are the icing on the cake here as trainer Brad Cox and rider Joel Rosario have teamed up to win 3 of 7 races at this Saratoga meet and 31% of 68 races this year.
The very best of luck to all our members playing Friday’s races from Saratoga!
