Good morning racing fans ! We are set to put a bow around the month of August with one final card. This is closing week at Saratoga so it’s always a somber time but it was another profitable meet for our members and we’ll look ahead to racing from Belmont, Aqueduct and Gulfstream Park in the fall and winter. In the meantime, I’ll be handicapping for fast and firm conditions. Weather forecast says we may get some overnight rain in the Saratoga area but I’ll optimistically hope we stay on turf for Race 3. Let’s GOOOO!
Wednesday at Saratoga:
Race 10: Devil Boy - 1 pt win - (US Morning Line Odds: 5/2)
Maiden claimers opened our day and we’ll close our day with more maiden claimers sprinting on the main track. This is a field that’s short on quality. There’s a Chad Brown runner posted on the outside that will take money but despite Brown’s prowess here at Saratoga, he’s only 1 for 10 with runners returning from similar layoffs in dirt sprints dropping into maiden claiming events. Last time out, Devil Boy wasn’t given much of a chance to show his best. He was taken wide on the far turn and did not persevere in the stretch, fading in the drive. Since that race he’s put up a bullet workout for a trainer that’s winning at 23% at this meet. Will be moving late!
