Woof, win bettors of ours took it on the chin today. In Race 1, Track Mate ran his eyeballs out pressing the odds-on favorite through testing fractions before finally succumbing and finishing 2nd at 10/1. After a scratch in Race 2, Jose Ortiz sent Bold Journey to the lead and he tired in the lane. In Race 8, Jack Christopher was much the best winning the H. Allen Jerkens after stalking the fast early pace. Happy Jack closed way too late. In Race 10 - the Sword Dancer it was Gufo with blinkers back on getting a perfect ride by Joel Rosario as he defeated Mira Mission for the 4/1 win. In the Travers it was favorite, Epicenter who prevailed over a game Cyberknife. In Race 12, HeyMackIt’sJack stalked the early pace and faded and in Race 13, Salimah never fired.
We put a bow around Travers Day and look forward to another beautiful Sunday at Saratoga. We’re expecting fast and firm conditions. Let’s get to work!
Saratoga:
Race 9: Lady Rocket - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 6/1)
The Grade 1 Ballerina at 7 furlongs brings together a talented group of fillies and mares. There are a few in this group who like to hear their hooves rattle on the front end but none faster than Lady Rocket who has a chance to get away early. There’s evidence that she’s even better this year than she was last year after taking down Sconsin and Bell’s the One in her most recent start. She’s 4 for 6 at the 7 furlong distance and has won her only start at Saratoga. 6/1 offers great value.
