Saturday’s Race Recap from Saratoga:

(All odds US)

Replays for yesterday’s races from Saratoga can be found here:

Saratoga:

Race 1: 7th@ 4.10/1

Race 2: 2nd@ 0.65/1

Race 7: 2nd@ 12.60/1

Race 8: 1st@ 0.90/1 - BEST BET 🔥🔥🔥

Race 9: 7th@ 9.70/1

Race 10: 2nd@ 0.50/1

Our day started with Full Coverage making his turf debut. While jockey, Joel Rosario did him no favors taking him to last and in traffic behind a slow pace, he didn’t do much running and should certainly benefit from the start. In Race 2, after an early scratch of one speed horse and a second speed horse scratching at the gate, Mount Athos ‘ pace advantage went up in smoke as Fast N Fearious was able to go wire to wire on the lead and Mount Athos closed gallantly for second. In Race 7, Ohana Honor was lights-out in his debut defeating all the runners who had whispers about them. He finished a closing 2nd at 12/1 odds. We got our first win of the day with our BEST BET as Portfolio Company just got up to run down rank outsider Ohtwoohthreefive to win. In Race 9, Leading Contender had a slow start on debut, came 7 wide into the stretch and rallied mildly. In the Grade 1 FourStarDave, Regal Glory ran her race but wasn’t good enough to defeat Casa Creed as we had to settle for second again.

A BEST BET win and three second place finishers (one at 12/1) from six selections on the day wasn’t our finest hour but we’re still ahead for the week.

We’re back to close out another profitable week for our members with some racing from Saratoga and I also have a few ideas at Ellis Park today where they’ve got a few stakes races carded.

Here we go!

Sunday at Saratoga:

Race 2: Shesjustanicegirl - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)

Two-year-old maiden fillies race a mile and a sixteenth on the inner turf. This is your typical Saratoga turf maiden field - Chad Brown first time starters? Check! Bill Mott runners? Check! Pletcher, Casse, Maker all have runners in here but so does Cherie DeVaux. Who’s Cherie DeVaux? She used to be Chad Brown’s assistant trainer and isn’t a household name just yet but she will be soon. She’s winning with 20% of her overall turf runners this year (30 out of 152), which is more than respectable and she’s 3 for 9 at this Saratoga meet. Sired by first year sire, Justify out of a Galileo mare this little miss is bred to love the turf on the dam’s side and has been working well. Jose Ortiz takes the mount and this runner will be at least twice the price of the Chad Brown runners.

Best of luck to everyone playing Sunday’s races from Saratoga!
