Thursday’s Race Recap from Saratoga:

(All odds US)

Replays for yesterday’s races from Saratoga can be found here:

Saratoga:

Race 1: DNF@ 2.25/1

Race 9: 1st@ 4.20/1 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

Race 10: 2nd@ 7.50/1

In Race 1 our selection, Salt Cay, injured himself and was pulled up and vanned off. I hope he’s all right. In Race 9, Poppy Flower was held off a fast early pace, switched out in the stretch and blew by the field for the win 🏆. In Race 10, Succulent was taken to last til the far turn when she was taken to the inside, weaved her way through traffic and was moving best late to just come up a fast closing 1/2 length short.

Despite some bad luck we turned a small profit for the day.

We’re back for Friday’s races from Saratoga. Sunny skies and mild temperatures are on the menu. Let’s get to it!

Friday at Saratoga:

Race 7: Frippet - 1 pt win (US Morning Line Odds: 12/1)

Allowance optional claimers go a mile on turf in this race for three year old fillies which drew a fairly competitive field. Chad Brown, Bill Mott, Todd Pletcher, Christophe Clement all have runners in here that will take money and Frippet is one who may get overlooked both due to her lower profile connections and her muddied up dirt form. As low profile connections go, you could certainly do worse than Jonathan Thomas who is building quite a name for himself with a wicked 22% win percentage on 125 turf starters this year and a 33% win percentage with runners going dirt to turf like this one is. Even though she won her maiden race by nearly five lengths on turf and ran ultra competitively finishing second as the favorite next out on the same surface, what I like most about Frippet was her lone turf race where she finished second to Walkathon. From that maiden win, Walkathon would go on to win her next two starts including the Grade 3 Regret where she defeated eventual Grade 1 winner, McKulick. That day, Frippet defeated Pharoah’s Song who would also win her next start. Of the eleven runners who have returned from that race, 8 have improved their speed figure next time out. Top rider John Velazquez riding is the cherry on top at 12/1.

Best of luck to everyone playing Friday’s races from Saratoga!
