RT's Sunday Saratoga Picks: Three races for 2yo's including the Grade 3 Adirondack Stakes

Turf 5.5 Furlongs|2yo MSW|Purse: $105K

Wesley Ward has two in this with first timer 4-Scarpia (4/1) and 8-Talkin Pharoah (8/5), which is likely to be bet down. Talkin Pharoah popped an 82 Equibase number on debut and while setting the pace before tiring to second. Today he switches to turf and stretches out a furlong – which the sire is a paltry 6% prop. I am going to take a shot with 1-Mo’s Treasure (8/1) who is going on his sixth race and getting a radical cutback in distance. He just worked a bullet :48.3 and his breeding suggests turf is a better surface.

The Grade 3 Adirondack Stakes

Dirt 6.5 Furlongs|2yo fillies|Purse: $200K

There is a lot of speed in this race with 1-Apple Picker (5/1) 3-Promise Of Hope (4/1) and 2-Naughty Gal (8/5), all fighting for the lead. This is going to set up well for my choice, 6-Damaso (8/1) who switches from all weather to dirt today. In her last, the $125K My Dear Stakes at Woodbine, she was trouble loading, expelled too much energy, yet managed to get herself into contention behind the leader by 1.5 lengths before giving way and getting third. She clocked a bullet :48 work here just five days ago, so look for Junior Alvarado to keep her near until the far turn and then make a stretch blast.

First crop sire Justify is on a roll and Steve Asmussen is 22% with second time starting 2yo’s, so 1-Just An Angel is my choice.
